Smokestacks

Sheep dog

All around on the farms we saw working dogs. This one has been in a muddy field.

A lot of the walking was across open fields and over syles

Trail

We passed through a number of tiny hamlets and some very pretty woodland

Banks of the Swale

Muker morning tea

We couldn't resist tea and scones in the sun in Muker. What a treat.

Muker

We made a detour off the trail to Muker. This charming tiny town is well known for it's hand knits using wool from the region. All the items were far too heavy for Australia.

Close encounters with cattle

En route to Reeth

We traversed trails through farmland.

The Swaledale Valley

The walking was easy and the views so captivating. We spotted a few grouse about but they were understandably shy.

Day 10, Keld to Reeth, 20km, 7 hours

Sunshine as we headed off at the halfway point on the C2C. We really enjoyed Keld Lodge and the rooms were comfortable. The food was forgettable. They had lovely lounges where we sat around and chatted to the other Trekkers.
We set off around 9 and followed the Swale river on the low or Swaledale Valley route. It was such a treat to be walking in the sunshine.
