Banded Galloway
As we descended into the valley the sun emerged. There were beautiful green fields around and we saw these fascinating cattle - Banded Galloway, a Scottish breed.
Grisedale Valley Route
The drizzle continued as we passed Grisedale Tarn along the Grisedale Valley Route. The rain was just light mist, and the wind behind us. Every now and then the fog lifted and we got a glimpse of the panoramic valley ahead.
Day 5 - Grasmere to Patterdale, 5 hours, 12+km
Headed out of Grasmere in drizzle with low fog. We walked a steady ascent to the top of the mountain. At the top we decided that we should take the St Sunday route across the ridge. We walked and clambered up and up. The wind increased and the fog closed in. As we reached the top we decided in the interest of safety that we should retreat. So we descended to the Grisedale Pass.
Grasmere in the morning
The sunshine from yesterday evening is hidden by low cloud, and yes it is raining again. The mountains around the village that should be visible above the trees are shrouded in fog. Breakfast then we ascend the foggy peak.
