Day 1 - St Bees

This morning at 9 Andy and I met the Wilsons at the Marriott in London where we picked up a hire car. As we, or at least Lesley put the cases in and out of the boot like fitting together a many doubters passed by and said they would never fit. Forty minutes later we were all in the car with all of our luggage heading out of London.
We had a fun drive north, stopping in Rugby for morning tea and supplies. We continued on arriving in the spectacular Lakes .district around three, and St Bees after four. The hills were alive with colour, the most spectacular the pink hues of the heather high up. The sheep grazed on seemingly precipitous hills. A strong wind was coming off the ocean.
We settled into Fleatham house and were welcomed with a hot cup of tea in a beautiful drawing room, and warm tea cake. We both have wonderful rooms with views over the cliffs at South Head out to the Irish Sea. This is where we will be walking tomorrow. Tonight we eat at the Queens Head.
